Mindy Fitterman has been playing with color, paper and textiles since forever.
In college, she studied Textiles and Clothing (Colorado State University, Bachelor of Arts, 1973), and then nutrition (Colorado State University, Bachelor of Science, 1978) leading to a 35-year career in public health. During that time, her art explorations continued in graphic design, collage, painting and textiles. In more recent years, she served as a docent at the New England Quilt Museum (Lowell MA, 2009-2012) and then studied with Jane Dunnewold in the three-year Art Cloth Mastery Program (2014-2016).
Fitterman has exhibited at the New Hampshire Institute of Art (1999), Vermont Quilt Festival (2008), Kimball Jenkins Estate (Concord NH, 2010), On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour (San Antonio, 2016). She was invited to exhibit work at the International Quilt Festival Houston (November 2016) as part of the group exhibit Ten Voices from One: Work by the Art Cloth Mastery Program 2014.
Her virtual quilt, Out on a Limb, is in 500 Art Quilts: An Inspiring Collection of Contemporary Work (2010). One of her essays appears in Creative Strength Training: Prompts, Exercises and Personal Stories for Encouraging Artistic Genius (Jane Dunnewold, 2016). Fitterman’s artworks are held in private collections in the United States and Europe.
